1. How to get to Punta del Este from Argentina
You have 3 options: bus, boat/bus and plane.
a.Bus
Buses leave from the Retiro Bus Station in Buenos Aires. Trip takes about 10 hours.
The companies are: Cauvi (phones: 43 14-6999/4880) and Bus de la Carrera (ph: 4313-1700)
b.Boat/Bus
This is the most useful combination as you have different options according to your budget.
The most economic option is Cacciola boats (www.cacciolaviajes.com phones: 4393-6100/ 4394-5520) leaving from Tigre to Carmelo and then by bus (6 hours) directly to El Naufrago Hostel. The price is about 30 dollars.
Buquebus (www.buquebus.com phones: 4316-6500/ 4316-6550) goes from Buenos Aires to Colonia with a slow boat (3 hours) or a fast boat (1 hour) and then by bus directly to El Naufrago Hostel (5 hours). You can also take the fast boat from Buenos Aires to Montevideo (3 hours) and then a bus directly to El Naufrago Hostel (2 hours). Prices go from 50 to 100 dollars.
c. Plane
You have Pluna (www.pluna.com.uy phone:4320-2585) or Aerolíneas Argentinas (www.aerolineasargentinas.com phone: 0800-222-volar). Flights are Buenos Aires (Aeroparque Jorge Newbery airport) - Montevideo (Carrasco Airport) and Buenos Aires (Aeroparque Jorge Newbery airport) - Punta del Este (Laguna del Sauce Airport). The flight takes about 35 or 40 minutes. Prices are between 80 and 120 dollars. If you go through Montevideo (Carrasco Airport) you will have to take a bus to El Naufrago Hostel. (2 hours). If you fly directly to Punta del Este (Laguna del Sauce Airport) you can take any bus to arrive to El Naufrago Hostel (15 minutes). All buses stop at our door.
2. How to get to Punta del Este from Montevideo
From Tres Cruces Bus Station of Montevideo you have buses every 30 minutes. Cot (phone: (02)408 6668) or Copsa are the companies available. The trip takes 2 hours and you can stop at El Naufrago Hostel' s door. You can also get the bus at the Carrasco Airport which also stops at our door.
3. How to get to Punta del Este from Brasil
You have 2 options: bus or plane
a. Bus
From Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Porto Alegre or Chuy you can take either EGA (www.egakeguay.com) or TTL (www.ttl.com.br). Both have very good and comfortable buses. Rates depend on where you are beginning your trip.
b. Plane
Two companies fly to Montevideo or Punta del Este. One is Pluna (www.pluna.com.uy) and the other is Varig (www.varig.com). Then you take a bus directly to El Naufrago Hostel.
4. How to get to the El Naufrago Hostel
Every bus stops at our door. You have to ask them to leave you in “Las Delicias “ at the ESSO gasoline station and then you will only have to cross the street. You can also take a taxi from the airport or you can hire our pickup service.
