Building of hotel Avala started in 1928. On demand of King Alexandar Kara?or?evi? for the purposes of ministry of forestry &amp, waterpower engineering for the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Structure was projected by famous Russian architect Viktor Lukomski who also projected Serbian royal palace, Serbian Orthodox Church patriarchate as if lot of other public buildings with great cultural and historic importance.

Lot of events of national importance are related with this building. One of them took place here in 1929 when the First Ski Championship in Kingdom of Yugoslavia was started from the today's parking lot. First Ski Championship of Serbia after World War II also started from here.

Today, because of its huge cultural and historical importance, building of hotel is on the list of Belgrade City Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments.

To reach Avala by public transport, take trolleybus 9, 10, or 14 from the city centre to the last stop in Banjica. Then take buses 401, 403, 404, 405, or 407, all of which pass the main entrance.
