Wegbeschreibung
From the train station (Gara de Nord):Unfortunately, the train station is ground zero of rip off artists in Romania. Golden rules:
NO-ONE FROM THIS HOSTEL IS STATIONED AT THE TRAIN STATION! If anyone says otherwise, they are lying,
and trying to rip you off.
DO NOT ACCEPT A TAXI OR ANY OTHER SERVICE OFFERED TO YOU BY ANYONE IN OR AROUND THE TRAIN STATION! The taxis there are parasites, and people have paid up to 50 times as much as they should have by taking them from there!
To get to the hostel, you can walk, but this should only be done during the day, and definitely not at night.
The bus is the best option (05:30 - 23:00), you need to exit the train station from the side, by turning right as you reach the end of the platforms.
Outside, cross the street and catch bus 178. The 2nd stop is ours (Cismigiu). From here, walk back the way the bus came, past the intersection of Stirbei Voda and Popa Tatu streets. Ours is the next little street on the right (Str. Constantin Stahi, with a paint shop on the corner). Here, walk down 50m and we are on the right, a big black gate set in an arch, opposite a little shop.
From Otopeni (Henri Coanda) airport (OTP):
We offer a pick up service for 15 euro per car, just let us know if you would like us to arrange it for you.
As for taxis please see train station taxi section above. If you really must catch a taxi from the here, Fly taxi is best, though still twice the price of a normal taxi.
To catch the bus (05:30 - 23:00) from the arrival area, go down to the ground floor and walk out the front, bus 780 goes to the train station. From there follow directions above.
From Baneasa (Aurel Vlaicu) airport (BBU):
We offer a pick up service for 10 euro per car, just let us know if you would like us to arrange it for you.
As for taxis please see train station taxi section above. If you really need to take a taxi, move away from the airport itself, as immediately around the airport it is impossible to get an honest taxi.
To catch the bus (05:30 - 23:00) walk to the main road in front of the airport and turn left. walk to the first intersection, and turn right. On the left, 100m or so down is a bus stop . From here catch bus 205 to the train station, and follow the above directions from there.
For both the airport buses: you will be dropped in front of the train station, and will have to move around to (as you are facing it) the left side of the train station to catch bus 178.
Also, for all buses you need a validated ticket, which you can buy from little booths marked 'RATB' that are at a lot of the bus stops. You may get a fine if you ride the bus with no ticket, or if you don't validate it properly (by sliding it into one of the little boxes placed throughout the buses, and pulling the top towards you, it should stamp holes in the ticket). If the ticket booth is closed (after 20:00) then you don't need a ticket, you can just get on the bus.
If you encounter any troubles at all finding the place, please don't hesitate to call, and we will do our very best to guide you here!
