Our Flying Pig Uptown Hostel is located right in the middle of Amsterdam next to the Leidseplein, the square famous for its street artists and a huge variety of clubs, pubs, coffee shops and restaurants.   The hostel is located in a typical old-Amsterdam mansion, overlooking the Vondelpark. It is known for its great mix between a laid back atmosphere and the real Amsterdam party vibes. Many friends have been made in our inviting hostel bar. Cheap beer (cheapest in town!) and many drink specials! The super friendly staff is always willing to help you with whatever you need. You can relax on the pillow stage, smoke in our indoor smoking area, play games, watch free movies or have some drinks without leaving the building. But if you do so, you won’t regret it, the hostel is located in a very beautiful street next to the park, within a minute distance from all the action.   If you are in for some culture, the van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum (with the ‘Nachtwacht’) are just around the corner, same as the beautiful Concert Building and the ‘I Amsterdam’ letters. Do you want to explore the Red Light District, some historic sites or Chinatown? Just take a stroll, everything is within walking distance. Public transport is close by too.   But there’s always more: go shopping at one of the local markets (such as the Albert Cuijp in the Pijp area) or the ‘9 little streets’, drink a beer at the Amsterdam Heineken Museum or have a wild night out in the so-called pop temple the Paradiso, within crawling-home distance . You can borrow some free hostel skates and share a ‘smoke’, drink and a blanket with your (new made) friends on the green grass of the famous Vondelpark. Please note we make every effort to accommodate you in the dormitory size of your choice. However, because of the nature of our business, we may have to place you in a different sized dormitory. As a result, the balance to be paid upon arrival can be different than stated on your confirmation. Please, note that Booking for over 6 people is considered as a group booking and can not be booked over the web. Bookings over 6 people will not be refunded. To see if you can book a group please contact the Hostel Bookers groups department. Customers younger than 18 years old or above 40 years old are NOT permitted. Uptown's Reception time table: 8.15am - 9pm. Downtown's Reception time table: 8.15am - 11.30pm. If you arrive out of these times you will need to pay a deposit of € 30.00 per person which will be refunded the next morning when you officially check in. For a Twin room in the 'Downtown', the payment will be € 100 per room.

Take tram 1,2 or 5 from Central Station. Get off at 'Leidse Plein'. Go straight ahead, cross the bridge and street, and turn left. Walk past the entrance gates of the park. Then turn right.
This is the 'Vossiusstraat'.
Trains between Schiphol and Central Station depart about every 10 minutes between 6am and 1am, and once every hour between 1am and 6am.
For your convenience we have a shuttle service from the Uptown Hostels to Schiphol Airport. You can buy a voucher at reception for only € 7,-.
