Kaya Kweru Resort in Maputo
Kaya Kweru is only 40 meter’s walk to the beach where you can spend the day swimming, snorkeling, fishing, surfing or just lazing in the sun. Our amenities include a swimming pool, bray area, lounge area and restaurant. We also have a Sports Bar with DSTV, so for those sports enthusiasts, you won’t need to worry about missing any games. Check out the beautiful ocean view, watch the sunset or learn how to drum from our roof top patio. There are several restaurants, bars and shopping within walking distance, including the local market.
Comfort is our priority therefore Kaya Kweru boasts an up market friendly resort with 24 en-suite rooms. In all of our suites you will find complete bed linens, duvets, air conditioning, en-suites with shower and tiled flooring. Our Housekeeping staff will make sure your suite has fresh bath towels and is cleaned daily. We cater to small groups as well as larger groups, just let us know what you need and we will take care of the rest.
There are plenty of parking spaces for vehicles, boats, jet skis and quad bikes with 24 -hour security. We do offer pick-ups from the Kosi Bay border crossing for R80 per person each way (minimum 2 people).

BY CAR TO KOSI BAY:From Durban take the N2 towards Hluhluwe, follow the signs to Mbazwana, and Kwa-Ngwanase. The border is about 20km after the town of Manguzi.
From Johannesburg , take the N2 towards Jozini, follow the signs to Ingwavuma, Tembe Elephant Park and then Kwa-Ngwanase. The border is about 20km after the town of Manguzi.
Park your car at the border parking lot for R30 per day, don’t worry it’s safe to leave your car there. You will need to pre-arrange a pick up with us before you come. Once you have booked your pick, we suggest you also call when you are an hour away to make sure you are on schedule. Remember the border closes at 5pm, no exceptions.
BY BAZBUS:
Take the Bazbus to Hluhluwe (Bushlands) and spend a few nights exploring the area. We will put you in contact with the local taxi to arrange a pick up for yourself to Kosi Bay (Manguzi). If you arrive before 4 pm you can take another local taxi to the Kosi Bay Border where we will arrange a shuttle pick up for you. If you won't make the border by 5pm, then we suggest you spend a night in Kosi Bay. See the Coast to Coast or Alternative Route for accommodation listings. Shuttle pick up from the Kosi Bay Border costs R80 per person each way.
BY SHUTTLE OR LOCAL TAXI:
There is a shuttle service that leaves Durban every Saturday. They will bring you straight to the Kosi Bay border where we will pick you up. Please contact Paul Bennewith at +27 83 661 1205 or kulturelink@gmail.com for shuttle rate.
You can take a local taxi from Durban, St. Lucia, Hluhluwe and even Johannesburg to Kosi Bay. Ask at the backpackers where you are staying and they should be able to put you on the right track. Shuttle pick up from the Kosi Bay Border costs R80 per person each way.
VIA MAPUTO:
We also have transport to/from Maputo out of Catembe on the other side of the bay from Maputo on Mondays and Fridays. This is ideal for those who want to remain traveling in Mozambique or if you are coming from that direction. The shuttle will cost R250 per person each way (minimum 2 people). Why not travel from Maputo and continue your way into South Africa via Kosi Bay. Contact us to make a booking.
You can get a 30 day tourist visa when you cross at the border. Expect to pay R189 for international travelers. South Africans do not require a Visa to enter Mozambique.
We have a small private kitchen for the backpacker sat Kaya Kweru. There is a small grocery store and a market in Ponta that carries the basic supplies. We have a great restaurant and bar so no need to pack a bunch of food with you. There are several other restaurants in the areas that you can also choose from if you need a change of atmosphere.

Kosi Bay Border Pickup: R80 per person each way (2 or more people). Please contact our reception to schedule a pick up time.
Maputo Pickup: R250 per person each way (2 or more people). Shuttle transportation runs on Mondays and Fridays.
