Doma Hostel in Riga

Probably the BEST LOCATION in historical Riga Old Town center. Hostel built on January, 2006. We have new beds and mattresses, showers and other stuff.   All nationalities are welcome here. Clean, informative mid size hostel/backpackers, within 100m to tourist office and within 20m to historical places, the most popular bars, restaurants, clubs and much more..   Facing Doma Square which dates before 13th century.   Cobble stone streets, medieval history, traditional Latvian food and bars are near. 800 year old city, UNESCO listed, the best Art Nouveau buildings in the world, the nightclub capital of northern Europe.   Lots to see and do. Irish bars, Soviet food, Latvian nightclubs, Jazz, walk down Robert Wagner Street, visit Doma church, 13th century, which has one of the biggest working church organs in Europe - over 6,000 organ pipes. Visit Soviet style central markets, opera house, sip herbal tea in one of the many cafes, sit in one of the parks. Drink vodka like the locals still do.   Dorm rooms face the main square. Easy walk from main bus and train station. Ask us for a list of non tourist night clubs and cheap eat places. Rigaoutthere and Partyinriga nightclub and bar tours arranged. Most dance clubs are opened till 06:00 Thu, Fri and Sat. Shoot an AK -47 machine gun, ride on an Olympic bobsled track, free winter ice skating, best views of all Latvia - level 26, skyline bar.   Come and visit us for two days or twenty two. Just come and say G'day. You will be pleasantly surprised with Riga.

Directions

Bus: Autoosta (International central bus station) is next to Old Riga. The station is not modern and watch your wallet. Cash machines and tourist office are there. Its an easy 500 meter walk to the hostel. Ask directions to old town or look for the tallest church, Doma church, and walk that way. Dome hostel faces Dome square. Look for the Double Coffee sign. We are opposite that.

Railway: Centrala stacija (the central train station) has a modern shopping center and money machines and is next to old Riga. Cross the 6 lane main road called 13 janvara iela (13th January street) via city under walk tunnel systems. Hostel is about 500 meters and or 7 streets away. Ask for directions to Doma square or look for the tallest church, Doma church and walk that way. Dome hostel faces Doma square.

Airport: Riga international airport (RIX lidosta) is a modern small airport recently rebuilt. Cash machine and money exchange on arrival level. Distance to city - about 8 km. The bus stop is located on the other side of the airport car park. Follow the zebra crossing . Bus 22 and 22a runs about every 30 min and only costs a cheap 0.25 ls. To the city. Travel time about 25 min
Conductor on bus will give ticket &amp, change. Get off at Stockman department store (5 level building). The hostel is about 400metres and six streets from here. Cross the 6 lane main road called Janvara iela 13 (13th January street). You can cross the road by using the city underpass tunnels. Ask directions to Doma square or just look for the tallest church, Doma baznica, which is on Doma square. The taxi rank is on departure level and the red taxi service Awaits. Taxi ride is about 15 min to city. Cost about 7 lats. Make sure the meter is on. The taxi can not enter Riga old town so get the driver to drop you off at the Latvian Occupation museum, walk up Kungu street to Doma church and look for the Double Coffee sign, we are opposite.
