Eastern Comfort Hostelboat in Berlin

The hostel boat 'Eastern Comfort', moored between two very lively districts close to the center of town, looks forward to welcoming you on board with its modern, luxurious atmosphere which is unique to Berlin! Through the portholes of our 2nd class cabins, you can see and hear the rippling of the river 'Spree', the main river running through Berlin. Most of the 2nd class cabins are doubles, but there are also single, triple and four-bed rooms. All 2nd class cabins have their own toilet/shower.   For those of you who prefer even more comfort, we offer 1st class cabins with single and double person capacity.   The boat is equipped with a central heating system in every cabin, to ensure comfort during colder times of the year.   NEW: “Western Comfort” moored on the opposite side of the river spree in Kreuzberg.   We offer:   - Free boatrips on the River Spree - On Request   - 0,50 CENT discount on every drink/meal you have in our lounge   - A multi-lingual staff who are friendly and knowledgeable, offering excellent advice on tours, museums, galleries, shopping and of course night life.   - W-Lan /hot-spot free of charge (your own computer on both boats) - Internet 1€/half hour (our computer on Eastern Comfort”) - no curfew, open 24h with door code - reception: 8h00 - 23h30 (Eastern Comfort) - check-in 16h00 - 24h00 (earlier check-ins can store their luggage at their own risk) Western Comfort check in 17h00-23h30 - check-out 11h00 midday (12h00 on Western Comfort) - boat shuttle (sometimes ,-) ) - “all you can eat/drink” breakfast 8:30am-11:00am only 4€ - non smoking (smoking allowed on the outside deck) - bicycle-hire 12€/day - laundry service 5€/load - visa, master, EC, cash preferred - shops/supermarket/cheep food in walking distance - free city maps, free walking tours - free city magazines/event guides     The ship “Eastern Comfort” is located in the eastern part of the town, just at the border between the very lively districts of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, directly at the biggest remaining stretch of the 'wall' (dividing Berlin till 1989) just next to one of the most stunning old bridges crossing the river 'Spree' The ship “Western Comfort” is moored on the opposite “western” side of the river.   You can chill out with a German beer, a drink or a little snack, after a long days walk through town in our lounge or on the spacious top sun deck. We also offer German food!   The boat is non smoking, equipped with internet / WLAN, TV room, and a washing machine and dryer. You may bring your bedding with you we can provide you with bedding and a towel for a one-time charge of € 5. We have a daily breakfast buffet that only costs € 4.

Directions to Hostel :

By Bus: ( ZOB is the central bus station). Buy a single ticket (currently € 2.10), and take the S-Bahn (fast train) to “Warschauerstrasse”. (see “Directions from Warschauerstrasse”)


By Train: When arriving at the newly built main station (“Hauptbahnhof”), you need to take the „S-Bahn” (fast train) to “Warschauerstrasse” station. (see “Directions from Warschauerstrasse”)

By Plane: Airport “Tegel” Buy a single ticket (currently € 2.10). TXL bus X109 to “Alexanderplatz', from there take the „S-Bahn” (fast train) to “Warschauerstrasse” station. (approx. 20min from 'Tegel' to 'Warschauer Str'). (see “Directions from Warschauerstrasse”)

By Plane: Airport “Schönefeld” SXF:
Outside the airport take the shuttlebus or walk (walkway with roof) to station. Buy a single ticket (currently € 2.10). You can take the Express train (RE), which runs every 30 minutes to “Ostbahnhof” or take the “S-bahn” (fast train) to “Warschauerstrasse” station.(approx. 30min from 'Schönefeld' to 'Warschauerstr') (see “Directions from Warschauerstrasse”)


Directions from Warschauerstrasse:

Once you exit the station you will be on a bridge. Turn left and follow the road, you will be going downhill in the direction of the river “Spree”. When you reach the traffic light, cross the street and then cross again (you are walking toward the Berlin Wall). Walk along the wall until you reach the second gate / opening. You will see the “Eastern Comfort” signage clearly. The walk from Warschauerstrasse will take about 10 minutes.

Schönefeld (Express bus) to “Ostbahnhof” ( a smaller train station in the former East), you will exit the station, walk towards the main road (Mühlenstrasse), cross the road, turn left and walk along the Wall until you reach “Eastern Comfort”. The walk from “Ostbahnhof” will take up to 15 minutes. There are lots of cabs outside the station, the ride should cost about € 5, if you have too much luggage for the walk.

By Car: all motorways to Berlin lead you onto the “Berliner Ring” (A10) (highway ring around Berlin). Take any exit leading you to “Berlin Zentrum”, look out for signs directing you towards “Mitte”/ “Alexanderplatz” .From here you drive towards “Dresden”/ “Köpenick” , from “Holzmarktstr” you drive further into “Mühlenstrasse” (this is the “B96” on your map) (remember, there are many 'Mühlenstr in Berlin, the address for your navigation system is 10243 Berlin!) (the former “wall” will be on your right when you drive along Mühlenstrasse). Just before you reach the end of Mühlenstrasse, you will see “Eastern Comfort”. Parking is free of charge and usually right in front of the gate.
