My name is Dimitris Houstoulakis and I own and run Matala Dimitris Villa Hotel in Matala with my wife Eleni. We have a family with three children, Marianthi, Giorgos and Dimitris-Junior. We enjoy very much having families with children stay with us, so the children can play together and enjoy the safe, child friendly environment.   We speak Greek, English and also understand a little German. The best part of our job is the opportunity we have to meet people from many different countries. We often organize ""International"" nights where people cook something traditional from their home country and we share it all together with good wine and a lot of fun. For all of you planning your next vacation to the magical Southern Crete and Matala, Villa Dimitris Hotel is waiting to accommodate you for one of the most enjoyable holidays of your life, through a family and friendly environment.   We offer Internet access for reading and sending e-mails for all of you interested.   There is also the possibility to organize excursions all over the island with air-conditioned busses or even by renting a car or bike from us at the best prices.   Hospitality in Greek language treasures as one of the most precious values and inheritance we got from our ancient Greek roots and the Cretan culture. We mean to offer this to our guests while they stay in our hotel.

DIRECTIONS TO MATALA CRETE

From Heraklion Airport, head towards Mires which is about 60km from the airport.
When you go through Mires turn left and head straight towards the palace of Faistos.
Faistos was the second biggest city of Minoan Crete and it is built on a hill,
at an altitude of 100 metres above sea level, in the fertile valley of Messara.

From here it is 15km directly to Matala.
The hotel is located approximately 300 metres before the centre of Matala on the left hand side.
There is a small driveway leading to the hotel and it recognizable by its blue signs.

The hotel can arrange pick up from Heraklion Airport if requested in advance.
It is also possible to reach Matala by bus.
You must take a bus or a taxi from the airport to Heraklion bus station.
Buses leave from here for Matala every 2 hours and the hotel is located 250 meters
from the bus stop in Matala.

There are many scheduled and chartered flights to the Heraklion airport. If you tell us ahead of time when you will arrive, we can arrange to have a friendly taxi driver wait at the airport for you with a sign with your name on it. He can then drive you to our apartments (the fare is around 60 euros).

You can also choose to hire / rent a car of your choice, waiting for you at the airport, where you will be met by a helpful representative who will settle the formalities quickly and take you to your car.
