Gabrielle Apartments in Paris
Sacré Coeur Studio
Some of our guests liked it so much that they spent most of their trip inside. The cozy alcove bed from which you can watch TV (over 200 international channels) or DVD, read the many books and guides at your disposal or listen to Edith Piaf or George Brassens allows for what the French call a 'grasse matinée' (literally 'fat morning', i.e. staying in bed till noon).
Perfect for a couple, with a guest bed for a kid or occasional visitor, an equipped kitchen, washing machine, separate bathroom with shower, your Paris home will be a lovely base from which to operate.
If you come for work or study, you will appreciate the wireless high-speed internet access, a table/desk to work on and a phone at your disposal.
The walls feature artworks of contemporary French artist Vincent Magni.
The color harmony of the space is in warm earthen shades with a bright orange bathroom for a tonic wake-up.
Montmartre's Gem Studio
When I bought this flat it came with a tenant named Cem (pronounce Gem), a proud and fierce artist from Kurdistan who was to become the protagonist of my latest novel...
Cem's aesthetic exigency was high so I used only noble materials to match his spirit, solid teak wood, black marble in rough and polished basins shaped like sculptures and made a Jacuzzi for 2 the centerpiece of the studio.
A steaming hot bubble bath and a bottle of champagne for your welcome will help you get over your jetlag.
The place was designed with love and for lovers, I trust it will be a singular experience and that the magic of Montmartre will work its spell...
Just a few steps from your 'Gem' you will be able to take your café crème and croissant in the one of the most authentic cafés of Montmartre, 'Au Rendez-vous des Amis'. Many of the local inhabitants of the hill made it their second home.
When I arrived on Montmartre it became my first 'base' and I was soon to get to know many exceptional people there who became my friends.
This is the major difference between Montmartre and other places: people care, they are interested in you and simply by living in their 'village' you become a part of their lives.
Opposite the café which may well become your favorite, a 'stairway to heaven' leads you to Place de Tertre and the Sacré Coeur Basilica. From there you've got the most splendid views of Paris and you may feel like lighting a candle inside the Church deeply touched by the spirituality and beauty of the site.
Max Studio
The walk-in shower has a cascade douche. To wake up you can stand under an imaginary tropical waterfall, then fix yourself a protein shake or some coffee and have an outside breakfast in the private garden that goes with the flat.
While living in one of the liveliest capitals of Europe, the City of Lights, being in Max's apartment is like a trip to the countryside. Not a sound from the outer world, except sometimes the beautiful voice of your soprano neighbor.
You can live with open doors in the calm of your own garden, then step out of your building and enjoy the village of Montmartre: the portraitists of the Place de Tertre, the Sacre Coeur Basilica, the Dali Museum, the colorful cafes and restaurants of rue des Abbesses.
The overall design is minimalist clean. Black, white, grey, silver with a few bright red counterpoints, no fioritura, clear-cut lines and lots of light from the windows and the glass door. Only the wrought iron decorations outside the glass door and windows remind us of the historic character of the building.
In the garden a sculpture of the famous French artist Vincent Magni watches over a 'chaise longue', which invites you for an afternoon nap after having had some baguette with cheese and red wine on the veranda.
