Our higher altitude relative to other hotels in the area allows for not only incomparable views of the volcano, the lava flows and an amazing view of Lake Arenal.   The Arenal Volcano is the only volcano in Costa Rica constantly active since it woke up after 400 years with the big eruption of 1968 which produced a huge ash columns, explosions & glowing red lava almost every day. The daily eruption activity of this 1,633 meter high volcano produces rocks, hot gases and lava on its slopes, where the beauty of the rain forest with its diversity of exotic plants, animals and birds blends with the magnificence of one of the most active volcanoes in the world. And if you are lucky you will get to see it from your room.

San Jose-Alajuela- San Ramon- La Tigra-Chachagua-La Fortuna (Green Route)
Take the Panamerican Highway 1 out of San Jose to Alajuela and keep straight. You will pass the Airport and continue straight for some kilometers until you see the sign to San Ramon. Exit there and drive into the town of San Ramon where you will look for the sign to San Lorenzo and La Tigra. You might find also the sign of Hotel Villa Blanca and Valle Escondido, (these hotels are on the way from San Ramon to La Tigra) Follow the signs and continue the road from La Tigra to Chachagua and then into La Fortuna. We are located at El castillo 26 Km from La Fortuna home of the active Arenal Volcano.
