Hi friends, my name is Wang Zhi. Myself and my team recently started a hostel called Soma and we are very excited to see you in Chengdu: it'sour hometown and we vow to be good hosts.   Let me start off by telling you something about Soma. In Tibetan language soma means a bright colored flower grown in the Tibetan plateau. It takes root in poor soil and blossoms every Spring under the searing sun. The locals saw soma as a symbol of perseverance and enduring friendship. We are very interested in many Tibetan legends and folklore: it's how we chose the name of our hostel, with a commitment to building long lasting relationships in even the smallest things we do for you.   Soma Hostel occupies the top 3 floors of an 8-story building, with elevators for the elderly and a huge hanging garden with a commanding view of the Chengdu skyline. The garden receives ample sunshine in Summer where you can comfortably rest on our double beach chairs, do morning yoga amidst the cultivated flowers, or read a book on the lawn. Wireless internet covers much of the area, but don't leave your laptop untended our lovely golden retriever dog might think of it as food.   Thanks to its location, you can easily find all major attractions like People's Park, the Tibetan Quarter, Jinli Night-street, and Wuhou Temple, all within 10 minutes walk. You can also take buses from Xinnan Men station from across the river to places like the Grand Buddha in Leshan, Mt.Emei, Jiuzhaigou valley, the Qingcheng Mountain, and Huanglong Xi old town, amongst others.   Our hostel is recently renovated as of May 2009, now offering more cabinets and racks for your belongings and lockers for valuables in the dorm rooms. No longer will you have to scatter the room with socks or jump over your backpack. We built an Irish style bar adjacent to the garden featuring a pool table, darts, projector movies, as well as combining a popular selection of Sichuan & Western food served until midnight.   Going online? Not a problem, all rooms can receive wireless signal and we evenly distribute bandwidth so the speed of your connection won't be affected if someone else is downloading stuff. Phone calls to home? Except for dorm rooms, all rooms are equipped with a central telephone system, and we give each guest 30 minutes international call-time FOR FREE.   Our staff can speak decent English, and are confident to answer most of your travel questions, double checking all information given online in order to make sure it's the most accurate.   Our guests are all avid travelers, their stories combine can make your world go around. For us, it's like an old Chinese saying: ""When you have a friend coming to visit you from afar, it's one of the three happiest moments in your life"".
