From Santiago:
You can take a flight, drive (you would need to cross the Argentine Patagonia) or get Punta Arenas by boat.
From Carlos Ibañez del Campo International Airport:
It is located only 20 kilometres from Punta Arenas and it receives regular flights from Santiago and Puerto Montt, capital of the Lake Region. There are also regional flights to Porvenir and Puerto Williams cities with the possibility of making connections with Argentine Patagonian cities.
To Punta Arenas from the Airport:
You can take a bus, mini-buses and taxis to get to Punta Arenas. The trip will take 30 minutes approximately.
By sea:
You have to get to Puerto Montt, the departure point for boats that cross the Patagonian channels to Punta Arenas where you can get all the information that you may need.
By land:
This is a long journey along Route 255 (Monte Aymond - Punta Arenas). It can take about 36 hours, and you will need to go through Argentine.
From Santiago you need to go to Osorno, capital of the province by the same name in the Lake District, located over 900 kilometres to the south. There, buses will depart to Punta Arenas.
How to move around:
Punta Arenas, the city of the ‘urban trekking’ has amazing views for you to watch!
And if you do not fancy walking, you can always take a taxi (their charges are very reasonable priced) or by public transport which is even cheaper.
