Casa 579 is a stylish boutique guesthouse located in Santa Teresa, the famous art and cultural district of Rio de Janeiro. With an amazing roof terrace with 180 degree views of the Cristo Redentor, Sugar Loaf Mountain and Guanabara Bay and excellent facilities, Casa 579 not only offers the best view in Rio, but the perfect place to stay to avoid the souless high rise hotels of Copacabana and Ipanema and experience the “real” Rio.   Lapa, famous for its Samba clubs and home to Rio's nightlife and the downtown business district are a 10 minute bus, taxi or tram ride away and the famous sights of Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain and the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema are just 15 minutes away. Transport stops right outside the house to take you to all the places you need to go (bus, tram or kombi).   The house has been the site of fashion shoots and TV documentaries thanks to the stunning views (as you will see when you see the Cristo, Sugar Loaf Mountain and Guanabara Bay from our panoramic roof terrace). The house also has a relaxing and comfortable lounge area, and a great choice of accommodation from spacious private rooms through to our deluxe shared room. We are also are very privileged to have some interesting residents in our grounds…a family of monkeys and a toucan often pop by, see if you can spot them in the trees from the breakfast area!   Many of the rooms have views to either the Cristo, Sugar Loaf Mountain or both and are very spacious with high ceilings. Some of our rooms have a terrace with hammocks from which you can enjoy the view to the Sugar Loaf Mountain. We have negotiated this rate with a local taxi company and this is cheaper than what you will pay when arriving at the airport etc. • We can organise many cultural and sightseeing activities for you during your stay... be it Hang-gliding, Hiking to a Waterfall in the Rainforest, a Football match at the famous Maracana Stadium or trying to master the Samba, we know how to do it.   Xmas & New Year / Carnival: • Please note for these periods we have a 4 night min stay for New Year (29 Dec - 02 Jan) and a 6 night stay for Carnival (12-18 Feb 2010), bookings will not be accepted for part of these dates. If you book on the system for less than the required package nights we will not be able to honour your booking and we will not be responsible for any depsoits paid. We have an airport pick-up service for R$65 from the International Airport, R$50 from the Domestic Airport and R$35 from the bus station.

Bus stops :
• No 206 Silvestre / Castelo - to / from Lapa and Rio Centro . Get on/off at the corner of Rua Almirante Alexandrino and Rua Dr. Julio Otoni
• No 407 Silvestre / Largo do Machado - to / from House / Largo do Marchado (metro). Stops outside the house.

When coming from the bus station or airport, instruct the taxi driver to go via Laranjeiras to Rua Alice and turn right at the Police Cabin just before the Tunnel on the corner of Rua Dr. Julio Otoni and continue up the road to No. 579.
