Smack bang in the middle of Newcastle West, Cambridge Backpackers offers 16 clean, comfortable and inexpensive rooms for short stay visitors.   Newcastle has some of the best surfing and swimming beaches in Australia. We have two ocean baths and historic swimming areas such as the bogie hole. Ask our staff if you would like a surfing lesson or directions to the best beaches.   There is also an amazing range of restaurants available on the multi-cultural Beaumont Street, only a short walk or bus ride away.

Getting there
By train. Alight at Wickham Train station and cross rail bridge over to Hunter Street. Please check train stops at Wickham as not all services will.

By bus. Alight at The Store or Museum bus stop. Cambridge Backpackers is just across the road.

By car. From Pacific Highway, Sydney. Take the Newcastle/Wallsend Exit on to Newcastle Link Rd. Continue on Newcastle Link Rd, Wallsend, head towards Roundabout.
At the roundabout - take the 2nd exit onto Thomas St
At the roundabout - take the 3rd exit onto Newcastle Rd, Wallsend
At the roundabout - take the 2nd exit onto Newcastle Rd, Wallsend
At the roundabout - take the 2nd exit onto Newcastle Rd, Jesmond
Continue along Griffiths Rd, Lambton
Continue along Donald St, Hamilton North
Continue along Parry Street.
Turn left at traffic lights at Wood Street.
