Freddys Hostel in Tirana
Freddy is building an empire. He has recently purchased two floors in brand new apartments nearby his already sizable and comfy, recently renovated base to offer a great standard of room at a very affordable price. The hostel is situated within 200m of Tirana's epicenter is Skenderbeg Square and is within 100m of supermarket, Internet and some great back street markets and restaurants that Freddy can direct you towards.
The base price is 12 Euros per bed and increases by 2 or 3 Euros as air conditioning and bathroom facilities are included in the rooms. The 6 dorm room listed only has 5 beds but also includes a kitchen. There is now wireless available.
Even with all the car horns and noise of the nearby main street, you will sleep peaceful and easy at Freddy's. As for safety, it is not even an issue. Although I don't recommend it, you could leave your wallet on the street in Albania and someone would endeavor to get it back to you. Albanians are some of the nicest, most hospitable people on the planet, and hopefully will stay this way as they endeavor to join the 21st century.
Wegbeschreibung
If you look up google maps you will discover that Tirana is only really one highway in and out from either direction leading to Skenderbeg Square. In reality this is not true, so I have endeavored to give as precise directions as possible.Get yourself to Skenderbeg Square, Tirana’s main square and town epicenter, if you are coming from the main bus and train station walk down Boulevardi Deshmoret e Kombit until you reach Skenderbeg Square.
From Skenderbeg Square, follow the street the horse and rider are facing and head between the brilliant mosaic fronted National History Museum (on left) and the Tirana International Hotel. (on right, probably Tirana’s tallest building) Keep to the right side of the street and take the first right at the back of the Tirana International Hotel where the small electricity sub-station is. Follow this thin road to the end turning left where the brand new apartment building is. This is Bardhok Biba Street.
Follow this 198 of my steps (I am 6’6”, you do the math) up the road until you see the sign for Freddy’s Hostel at number 75. The entrance at present is through the greenery, up 7 steps to the door on the left.
If you have any troubles just call us.
